The Unspoken Trauma
Dr Oshodi earned her Basic Medical training qualification from the College of Medicine University of Lagos and later received her Masters in Public health from the same University. She went on to specialize in Psychiatry and is a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, Faculty of Psychiatry. She further obtained a subspecialty fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from the Colleges of medicine of South Africa.
Dr. Yewande O. Oshodi is currently a Consultant Psychiatrist & Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital & College of Medicine University of Lagos, Nigeria respectively. Her clinical work entails providing specialist mental health care and her specific areas of interest in research include; Public mental health, maternal-infant mental health, Neuro Developmental disorders, mental health stigma, school mental health, adolescent trauma and adolescent substance abuse.
Dr Oshodi plays an active role in mental health advocacy and skill development. Over 10 years ago she pioneered a non-governmental organisation known as MIND Trust in Lagos, Nigeria, through which she and her team of volunteers continue to deliver mental health awareness programs in public secondary schools in Lagos mainland area till date.
Dr Yewande Oshodi is the current president of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and allied Profession of Nigeria (ACAPAN), an Organisation that promotes the development and delivery of child mental health relevant services and knowledge in Nigeria.
Dr Oshodi has been a speaker on mental well-being related matters and its relevant research in several conferences both local and internationally.
