Ier Jonathan-Ichaver, M.IoD is a social entrepreneur and founder of Sesor Empowerment Foundation, a disaster relief organisation which supports internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees.

Before joining Sesor, Ier worked with the United Nations Children’s Fund’s (UNICEF) Nigeria as a private sector fundraising specialist and with UNICEF Switzerland as a corporate alliances specialist. Ier has also worked in the NGO sector including with the Centre for Values in Leadership Nigeria, in banking, advertising and in Christian ministry.

 

She is a member of the Institute of Directors Nigeria and a strong advocate for women’s and displaced persons rights.

She currently serves as:

  • Member, Governing Council, Grooming People for Better Livelihoods Centre, a microfinance institution serving economically disadvantaged women.
  • Work Sector Group member, #FixPolitics (an initiative aimed at fixing Nigeria & Africa’s politics).
  • Member, Advisory Board, Amnesty International Nigeria
  • Member, Civil Society Organisations’ Steering Committee on Prevention of Mass Atrocities in Nigeria.

Ier recently graduated from the School of Politics, Policy & Governance (SPPG) with a Certificate in Public Leadership and Policy (CPLP) and is a proud alumna of FGGC Gboko (Benue State).

She holds a master’s degree in political management from the George Washington University and a first degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Ier is currently the African Democratic Congress candidate contesting for a seat in the Federal House of Reps elections to represent her Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency in Benue State.
