Funke Amobi

Funke Amobi is a distinguished global HR thought leader and customer experience executive with over 30 years of cross-industry experience in banking, telecommunications, and oil & gas. Currently serving as Deputy Head of Operations at Stanbic IBTC Bank Nigeria, she oversees operational efficiency, risk management, and strategic initiatives across corporate and investment banking. Her leadership spans core banking operations, corporate investment banking operations, customer experience, enterprise data, business transformation, vendor management, and real estate services.

Previously, Funke was the Regional Head of People & Culture for Nigeria and West Africa, shaping and executing business-led HR strategies across six countries. Her tenure saw Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC receive over 20 national and international HR awards for the delivery of human resource management for strategic business advantage. At MTN Nigeria, she led talent management and organizational development as General Manager.

Academically, Funke is a British Chevening scholar and a global finalist in the 2015 UK Alumni Education Awards. She holds a degree in Economics from the University of Lagos and an MBA with distinction from Lancaster University, UK, where she earned the Dean’s Prize and was named a Professorial Fellow in Work, Organisation & Technology. She also holds multiple certifications in talent and career management as well as Psychology of organizational development and Change.

Her accolades include the Outstanding Alumni Award from Lancaster University, recognition among the 100 Most Influential HR Leaders Globally, Africa’s Top 50 HR Leaders, and 100 Highly Esteemed Executives in Africa as well as the top 100 women in Finance by Leading Ladies Africa. She is a Fellow of CIPM Nigeria and CIPD UK, holding the Chartered Companion status, the highest in the UK for the profession.

Funke is passionate about and committed to women empowerment, enabling youth employability as well as supporting career professionals achieve their highest aspirations. Funke serves on several advisory boards including WISCAR (Women in Successful Careers) and is a non-executive director at Stanbic IBTC Asset Management. A published author and passionate advocate for women’s empowerment and youth development, she balances her professional achievements with her role as a devoted wife and mother.
