Dr. Omolola Salako

Dr. Omolola Salako is a global health leader, award-winning cancer researcher, and lecturer at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos. With over two decades of experience specializing in oncology, she is among the 90 skilled clinical oncologists in Nigeria focusing on cancer treatment. Dr. Salako earned her medical degree from the prestigious University of Lagos and dedicates her time to conducting research, lecturing, and innovating cancer care at the same institution.

She is a self-defined “Oncopreneur” and founded several vibrant startups, including Sebeccly Cancer Care, Oncopadi Technologies, and Pearl Oncology Specialist Hospital. Through Pearl Oncology Specialist Hospital, a Lagos-based chain of cancer centers, she provides affordable, quality and personalized cancer care, ensuring they receive the most effective treatments and the best chance to fight cancer.

One of her notable innovations is the Oncopadi Cancer App, which empowers cancer patients, caregivers, and clinicians to make informed care decisions. Dr. Salako leads a dynamic digital health research team that has developed the PROSECare app, an AI digital patient monitoring platform. This app helps cancer patients track and manage treatment-related side effects. The PROSECare app is currently used in the clinical and research setting by hundreds of cancer patients with over 16 cancer types on treatment across Nigeria.

Her outstanding work in the field has earned her numerous accolades. She was honored as one of the brightest minds in cancer research for 2021 by the American Society of Clinical Oncology and awarded the 2023 Global Bridges Oncology and Pfizer Global Medical Grants.
