Richmond Bassey

Richmond Bassey is the Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer of Bamboo, where he leads the company’s mission to democratize access to local and global investments. Bamboo now serves over 1 million users across Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, the United States, and Canada and operates through a U.S. broker-dealer that is a member of FINRA.  

Under Richmond’s leadership, Bamboo has become the largest contributing broker on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), and his work helped shape the Nigerian SEC’s Digital Sub-Broker license, establishing a modern framework for digital brokerage in Nigeria. 

Richmond began his career as a Product Manager at L5 Lab, working across early-stage ventures, and later joined Helium Health, contributing to its scale-up as one of Africa’s prominent health-tech platforms. He holds a B.Eng. from Anglia Ruskin University (Cambridge) and an MSc in Management & Innovation from Queen Mary University of London. 

At Bamboo, he focuses on systems-driven execution and impact — building the rails and experiences that make sophisticated investing simple for everyday Africans and financial institutions on the continent.
