Dr. Maymunah Yusuf Kadiri

Founder, Pinnacle Medical Services

Speaker

Dr. Maymunah Yusuf Kadiri — globally known as “Dr. May,” The Celebrity Shrink — is a world-renowned Psychiatrist, Mental Health Physician, and systems-level leader redefining how Africa, and the world, understands mental health, leadership, and human resilience. She sits at the rare intersection of clinical excellence, institutional leadership, public policy, and global thought leadership — a convergence that has made her one of the most sought-after voices on the psychology of performance, leadership, and healing anywhere in the world today.

A Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCPsych), Dr. May is a trained addiction expert, a certified Master Trainer in Psychological and Mental Health First Aid, a certified Rational Emotive and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist trained at the Albert Ellis Institute, New York, a certified Trauma Counsellor, and a Neurofeedback Practitioner. She holds a Master’s degree in Digital Healthcare from the Barcelona Technology School and Universitat de Barcelona, positioning her at the global forefront of technology-driven mental health innovation. With nearly two decades of clinical excellence, she has guided millions of individuals, families, corporations, and governments through trauma, burnout, addiction, depression, anxiety, and complex psychological conditions — often in contexts where mental health care was previously inaccessible, misunderstood, or deeply stigmatised.

Dr. May is the Founder and Medical Director of Pinnacle Medical Services, Nigeria’s leading private mental health institution and a foremost centre for innovative clinical approaches to psychological, emotional, behavioural, and mental health-related disorders. Pinnacle Medical Services operates a fully licensed 30-bed hospital facility — one of the few dedicated mental health hospitals of its scale and clinical depth in the region — offering inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care, addiction treatment, and specialist therapeutic programmes. Under her leadership, Pinnacle has become a trusted destination for individuals and organisations seeking world-class, stigma-free mental health care on African soil.

Beyond the consulting room, Dr. May is a leading global voice on workplace mental health, leadership under pressure, emotional intelligence, and the psychological cost of entrepreneurship and systems failure. She trains and advises corporate institutions, governments, educators, and policymakers on how to build mentally healthy systems that drive performance without eroding human dignity — reframing mental health not as a “soft issue,” but as core infrastructure for productivity, peace, and sustainable development.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. May served as Psychosocial Team Lead for the Lagos State COVID-19 Think Tank, contributing evidence-based strategies to safeguard population-level mental health during one of the most disruptive global crises of modern times — an experience that deepened her conviction that healing individuals is not enough; systems themselves must be redesigned to prevent

breakdown at scale. She is a global affiliate of Workplace Options (United States and United Kingdom), delivering Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and Employee Assistance Programmes to corporate organisations worldwide.

A pioneering entrepreneur, Dr. May founded HowBodi, a cutting-edge telemedicine app bringing mental health care into the digital age for underserved populations, and Pinnacle Health Radio, Africa’s #1 online health radio station. She is the Executive Producer of two award-winning films — Pepper Soup, addressing drug abuse, and Little Drops of Happy, addressing depression, postpartum depression, and suicide — and the creator of the Deeper Expression and Dig Deeper Conversation Cards. She is the author of the best-selling book Deep Expression, and the Founder of Pinnacle Medicals’ SPEAKOUT Initiative, a not-for-profit driving mental health literacy across Nigeria and beyond. She is also the Convener of The Mental Health Conference (TMHC), Nigeria’s leading annual mental health movement.
